Once, when I was a small child, I found a wounded sparrow in the garden and to keep it alive and warm I held it in my hands all day long. It lived and flew away when I held it up to the sky. Since then I have been in awe of birds.
During the covid years I found myself with time and freedom to do what I love doing best, which is wandering. Being a `nature-boy` I spent those days outside with absolutely no excuse for not stopping, standing still and admiring what I saw before me.
I set out, then, to write a book about the names and folklore of birds and wanted to illustrate the book myself. To do that I knew that I had to get closer to them.
This explains why there are so many photographs of birds on my Macs … some are here.
My other passion is travelling … seeking, wandering, eyes open and with the camera in my hand.
